Guerneville Cemetery
QUIET RECORD OF RIVER HISTORY
The Guerneville Cemetery is one of the most tangible links to the Russian River’s early communities—resting place for loggers and mill workers, railroad employees, resort-era families, veterans, and many of the local pioneers who helped build Guerneville and the lower river. Beyond names and dates, its headstones and plots trace the area’s waves of settlement, hardship, and resilience, and the grounds hold countless personal stories that don’t appear in official records. The Russian River Historical Society helps keep those stories from being lost by researching and documenting local family histories, sharing the cemetery’s significance through programs and guided history tours, and preserving photographs, notes, and archival materials that connect individuals to the larger story of the Russian River.
