Jane Barry Tribute

As part of the Fall 2026 Monte Rio Revival, we celebrated Jane Barry for having served as President of the Russian River Historical Society for 24 years. During that time, under Jane’s leadership, the society achieved major milestones, including a planning study for Villa Grande, a new website and blog, and a strategic plan for the society. We negotiated a lease with the Torr Family to house the society archive in the old Monte Rio Post Office. And the ca. 1872 Marshall House was saved from threatened demolition to become a new community building at the Senior Center property in Guerneville. We also took over the Russian River Car Show from Mike Murphy and have hosted four major community events, along with artist-in-residence Colin Mutchler.

Jane has represented the society at other community events; she hosts the Cazadero History Learning Center, volunteers at the archive, produces the historic calendar, and sees to it that our quarterly newsletter gets mailed out.

The board and community thanked Jane for all that she has done and will continue to be involved in.
